Grade School Dating VS Tinder

Dating was so much simpler in second grade. If you saw a girl you liked, you just chased her around with a rope and a metal hook until she fell in love with you. Today men and women have to go through dozens of digital levels of communication before they can even meet face to face.

Give "Ugly Girls" A Chance

If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life....

....never make a pretty woman your wife.

So things like Google and Facebook are getting smarter and smarter at giving you ads of things they know you'll like.  If your facebook info says you majored in media arts, expect to see ads for cool new digital camcorders.  If you're a recently single Christian, expect to see some pictures of hot Christian girls who are saving their virginity and wedding finger for you.

I'm guessing I must've posted something about how much I like smart girls or something, and apparently the internet assumes that smart girls must be ugly, and ugly girls must be smart.  That's ridiculous....or is it?

So obviously this is a generalization, but a lot of time girls that aren't as physically attractive as other girls often compensate for it in other ways, such as intelligence, artistic talent, or having a "great personality."  It's sad to say, but starting at a young age, many people get a head-start in life based on their appearance.  Attractiveness alone isn't going to set you for life, but early on it can seem that you might be able to coast by on your looks alone.  But then the inevitable happens; the beauty fades with time, and then those that thought they were going to be able to rely on their looks to get them through life, start to relize that good looks will only get them so far, and will only last for so long.  For too many girls (and guys too probably) they realize this late in the game, and then they're struggling to start building a skill, or talent, or personality.

Obviously, not every hot girl is dumb or lacking a personality, and not every ugly girl is smart or intersting, but I think it's important for all of us, looks aside, to keep learning and keep exploring all life has to offer.  And just like how pretty girls may have an advantage when it comes to getting jobs or other oppurtinities in life, their looks will only get them so far.  It's the same way with romance.  I've met many beautiful girls who are never really happy with themselves or their relationships, because they question if their appearance is all they have to offer, or the only reason they are liked.

I'm kind of buzzed right now, and origanlly I was just posting this because I thought the ad that popped up was pretty hilllarious, but in my alcohol induced state I decided to dig a little deeper.  I've been blessed throughout my life to know some amazingly beatiful girls with a lot going on for them besides thier looks.  But, I've also met some really cool girls who weren't happy with who they are, often because they're afraid their looks is all they have going for them, and other times because they are insecure about their looks.  I guess my "call to action" is do what you need to do to be happy with yourself, but do it for YOURSELF.  It's never too late to start learning something new, developing a new skill or talent or hobby.  And if you don't like your looks, I don't recommend running out and getting plastic surgery, but you can exercise, get a new hair cut or make over that gives you an extra boost of confidence, or just practice making faces in the mirror until you find one you like.

More than anything, be happy with who you are.  That's sexy!

*So this was origanally just going to be a post about how I thought it was funny that I got an advertisement for "Give Ugly Girls a Chance," but since I'm a little buzzed, I decided to be a little profound with it.
